Colette Cotehardie - Overdress - Blue

The Colette Cotehardie is a velvet dress from our Yoremade collection, designed for the late Middle Ages. It has the fitted, tailored look that was popular in the 14th and 15th centuries. Because it’s made from velvet, it has a rich, heavy feel that’s perfect for playing a noble, a wealthy merchant, or a court official.

We’ve included buttons all the way down the centre front and along the sleeves to give it an authentic look. Inside, the dress is fully lined with 100% cotton casement. This lining makes the dress much more comfortable to wear over your under-layers and stops the velvet from sticking or bunching up. We also updated the pattern to be slightly roomier than a traditional tight-fit, making it easier to move around in during a long day.

It comes in Cardinal Red and Celestial Blue. It’s a solid choice if you need a high-status outfit that is still practical and easy to wear. It’s a reliable, "no-fuss" piece of gear that helps ground your character in the later medieval periods.

MAINTENANCE

Velvet is tough, but it hates being crushed or soaked. If you get it muddy, let the mud dry completely and then use a stiff brush to flick it off. Don't iron this garment directly or you'll "blind" the velvet; if it gets wrinkled, hang it in a steamy bathroom or use a steamer on the inside cotton lining only to pull the creases out.
