The Oval Veil is a staple of feminine fashion throughout the High and Late Medieval periods. Unlike square or rectangular veils that can produce sharp, awkward corners, the oval cut is designed to drape gracefully over the head and shoulders. It provides that soft, flowing silhouette seen in historical manuscripts and effigies from the 12th through the 15th centuries.

Measuring a generous 130x85 cm, this veil offers enough length for various historical styling methods. It can be pinned to a coif, worn under a circlet, or layered over a wimple for a more formal, modest appearance. We’ve crafted it from 100% cotton muslin, a lightweight fabric that allows for a delicate, semi-sheer drape while remaining breathable enough for long days at a festival or camp.
The undyed look that fits a wide range of social classes. Whether you are portraying a travelling merchant’s daughter or a lady of the manor, the Oval Veil is the finishing touch that moves beyond a simple costume and into a complete historical persona. It’s a practical accessory for sun protection that simultaneously signals your character's status and attention to period detail.
