His breastplate is freshly oiled. His calf-suede boots have been rubbed down, the leather supple. He trails a finger across the embossed surface of his belt, noting how the wax has been meticulously buffed into the leather. His pouch is no different.

Maybe he will stay a little longer in the new land.
