More info

The term "derringer" has come to refer to any small-sized handgun that is neither a revolver nor a semiautomatic pistol. It is not to be confused with mini-revolvers or pocket pistols, although some later derringers were manufactured with the pepperbox configuration.

The original Philadelphia Deringer was a single-shot muzzleloading percussion cap pistol introduced in 1852, by Henry Deringer. In total, approximately 15,000 Deringer pistols were manufactured. All were single barrel pistols with back action percussion locks, typically .41 caliber with rifled bores, and walnut stocks. Barrel length varied from 1.5" to 6", and the hardware was commonly a copper-nickel alloy known as "German silver".

This is NOT A REAL GUN and, instead, can be used with single caps to complete your perfect LARP, Halloween, theatre or cosplay character.

The 'Deringer Pistol, 1850 Decoration Pistol' is an imitation 17th century Flintlock pistol set up to fire single shot caps. The 'Deringer Pistol, 1850 Decoration Pistol' has a faux wooden handle and aluminium/zinc metal work.

CAPS

Since Brexit, we've been unable to acquire and sell the single caps designed for these replica flintlocks. However, nearly all toy caps available in local toy stores or online are suitable. If you can only find ring caps, all you need to do is break or cut the caps into singles.

Be careful to only cut the plastic links if you're using scissors, otherwise you'll likely give yourself a fright by activating the caps and possibly hurt yourself.
