Shield Bash!

Your Large Shield sends a goblin clear off his feet, landing in a pile of his buddies. They miscalculated your massive strength, and are reeling backwards on the retreat. So much for supposed alliances. They have learned too late that betraying an Orc of the Black Water would mean death. It’s too bad they won’t be able to share the word with their kin.

You adjust your great shield, letting out a battle cry of rage as another goblin aims for your ankles. Shield Bash. This one goes flying another fifteen paces.

HISTORY

  • Also referred to as a “kite” shield, originally from the 10th-12th centuries
  • Would sometimes be as long as 114 cm, meant to protect a soldier’s knees to the shoulders.
  • Longer versions were typically used with javelins and spears, rather than swords

MAINTENANCE

Read our 'LARP Weapon Maintenance' article HERE!

All latex-coated shields need a certain degree of maintenance. For this we recommend using maintenance silicone, which can be purchased separately in the 'Weapon Maintenance & Repair' section.

'Larp Inn Weapon Lube - Silicone Spray' is an easy, spray-on application, 100% pure and acid-free making it safe to apply. We recommend using silicone on a regular basis. It maintains the latex-coat’s flexibility and prevents it from drying out, keeping the product wear and tear resistant.

Store your latex shield flat on its back. Use a simple sheet or towel lining to prevent it from touching a plastic or rubber surface to prevent your weapon from adhering to other products. Keep your shield in a cool, dry environment.
